TachoAI

A tachograph expert in your pocket

Spend on yourself rather than subsidising the state.

An artificial-intelligence (AI) powered app that explains tachograph rules in 32 languages, tailored to your own card data. Built on 16 years of industry experience and the expert knowledge of more than 10 million evaluated driver-card records and 20,000+ real inspection cases.

TachoAI - Bluetooth tachograph download + AI
32 languages
20,000+ inspection cases

Three AI services, one app.

It analyses your tachograph data, shows your options, and answers any rule question.

The screenshots are illustrations, shown in English. The app displays the analysis in all 32 languages, tailored to your own driver-card data.

Infringement analysis

What you did wrong — and what the inspector will say.

Upload the .ddd file and TachoAI identifies every infringement — whether it happened within the EU, in an AETR country (TR, Balkans) or in the UK (TCA). It shows the exact period, the legal basis (EU 561/2006, 165/2014, 2016/403, AETR, TCA) and the real consequence at an inspection.

Example: “Incorrect use or non-use of the ferry/train sign (missing sleeper ticket)” [2014/165-34-5-b/v] — TachoAI names the infringement using the official 2016/403 EU classification wording, and adds the legal background and the real inspector consequence.

Options analysis

How much can you still drive? When and how long will your weekly rest obligation be?

It shows your current status: daily driving time, weekly and fortnightly driving time, reduced-rest counter, compensation deadline. Not just past data — a forecast for the coming hours and days.

Example: “You must start your next weekly rest by 2026.04.18 18:42 at the latest, and it must last at least 54 hours 31 minutes.” TachoAI also explains why the mandatory rest is so long — because of compensation for earlier reduced weekly rests.

AI Chat — an expert conversation

We answer any tachograph question. In 32 languages.

Ask your question in your own language — Hungarian, Romanian, Polish, German or any EU language. The answer is not a superficial parking-lot chat, but based on 10+ million card records, 20,000+ real inspection cases and the full web of regulations.

Example: “Multi-manning rules when taking a ferry” → TachoAI explains the 9-hour rest ban, the 11-hour obligation, the order of tachograph-button use, with TRACE II guidance source references.

How do I take a ferry with multi-manning?

With multi-manning, taking a ferry follows special rules:

⚠️ CRITICAL: The multi-manning 9-hour rest CANNOT be taken with a ferry interruption!

PRACTICAL SOLUTION

If BOTH drivers have a sleeper ticket:

  • You must take an 11-hour rest (not 9!)
  • The rest starts together (both drivers at the same time)
  • Both cards stay in the tachograph (slot 1 + slot 2)
  • Ferry button: “START” → rest (🛏) → “END”
  • Max 2 interruptions, max 1 hour in total

If there is NO sleeper ticket (or only one driver has one):

  • The ferry time is availability for both drivers
  • You take the 9-hour rest after driving off the ferry
  • Ferry button: “TRIP START” → availability (▭) → “TRIP END”

TIME CALCULATION

The 30-hour window still applies:

  • With an 11-hour rest: max 19 hours from start of work (30−11=19)
  • With a 9-hour rest: max 21 hours from start of work (30−9=21)

Would you like me to explain the tachograph handling or the time calculation in more detail?

One app, four reading modes.

TachoAI connects to G2V2 Smart tachographs with no extra hardware — your phone communicates directly with the tachograph. For older tachographs you can use the Front Device adapter, a USB-C card reader for Android phones, or a Bluetooth card reader for iPhone/iPad.

G2V2 Smart tachograph

G2V2 Smart tachograph — direct communication

Your phone communicates directly with the G2V2 Smart tachograph over Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE). No separate card reader is needed — just the phone and the app. You can download driver-card data even WHILE DRIVING.

Zero extra hardware · Reads while driving

Front Device — front-panel adapter

Front Device — front-panel adapter

For older (non-G2V2) tachographs, the driver card can be read through the front panel with the TachoMI / AETRControl Front Device adapter. Even WHILE DRIVING, in under 50 seconds.

For older tachographs · While driving · < 50 s

USB-C card reader (Android)

USB-C card reader (Android)

Any USB-C smart card reader can be used with an Android phone. You can read the driver-card data in under 30 seconds.

Any USB-C reader · Plug & play · < 30 s

Bluetooth card reader (iOS)

Bluetooth card reader (iOS)

For iPhone and iPad, the driver card can be read over a Bluetooth Low Energy connection — since Apple devices do not support USB-OTG card readers.

Apple iPhone / iPad · Bluetooth · No USB-OTG

All four reading modes support the same AI analysis and every feature — TachoAI is not hardware-dependent, but expert-knowledge-dependent.

Why isn't ChatGPT enough?

ChatGPT, Claude and Gemini are general-purpose AIs. It's not just us saying it — the European Data Protection Board (EDPB) officially deemed ChatGPT inaccurate.

Aspect Generic AI
(ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini)
TachoAI
Knowledge of tachograph rules Superficial, general Deep — 10+ million card records, 20,000+ inspection cases, manufacturer manuals
YOUR .ddd data ✓ Analyses, explains, forecasts
YOUR specific infringements Only gives a general answer Specific, personal explanation
National enforcement practice Doesn't know it Knows member-state differences
Source referencing May invent answers (EDPB) Every answer with a source reference
Language coverage Superficially 32 languages, at expert depth
Always up to date Training cutoff Continuously updated

ChatGPT knows a bit about everything. TachoAI knows EVERYTHING about tachograph rules — and about your data. To avoid a ~€3,000 fine, it's not worth relying on a general AI that may invent answers.

For transport companies

A single avoided company fine can cover the annual TachoAI subscription — per driver.

Hungarian tachograph company fines are typically ~€100 — €5,000 / case. In serious cases, daily multiplication can push it to tens of thousands of euros. With a tiered B2B package, TachoAI protects the whole fleet — the exact price depends on the number of drivers and the package depth.

Calculate it yourself — a 10-driver example

  • TachoAI subscription for 10 drivers: indicative €12 / driver / month × 12 months × 10 drivers ≈ €1,440 / year
  • 1 avoided company fine ≈ €100 – €5,000
  • 1 avoided “per-day stack” fine ≈ €5,000 – €10,000

A single avoided fine per year can already cover the whole fleet's annual subscription.

Frequently asked questions

What's the difference between TachoData and TachoAI?
TachoData reads the driver card and generates infringements and the activity sheet as PDFs — a simple base service. TachoAI includes all of that, plus three AI features: infringement explanation (with the legal background and enforcement consequences), options analysis (what you can do now, when you must rest, what compensation is mandatory), and AI Chat in 32 languages.
Where do TachoAI's answers come from?
From our own verified knowledge base: the experience of more than 10 million evaluated driver-card records, 20,000+ real inspection cases, tachograph manufacturer manuals (VDO, Stoneridge), and the full EU 561/2006 + 165/2014 + 2016/403 regulatory framework. We deliver our 16 years of industry experience in 32 languages (including Hindi, Punjabi, Urdu, Tagalog). Every answer is source-referenced.
How many AI questions can I ask per month?
The base subscription includes 20 AI Chat questions per month. Infringement analysis and Options analysis are unlimited. If you want to ask more, a +10-question add-on is available for €1.99 (valid until the end of the month).
Does TachoAI know my country's local rules and fine amounts?
The severity of infringements (minor / serious / very serious / most serious) is defined uniformly by EU Directive 403/2016 — TachoAI applies this for every member state. The exact fine amounts, however, are set by each member state in its own national law. For guidance, TachoAI converts the Hungarian fine rates (from ~€50 up to ~€3,100) into the currency of the given country — this is an order-of-magnitude reference, not precise legal advice.
What if it gives a wrong answer?
Every answer is source-referenced — you can immediately check the cited legal article. Our moderation team continuously reviews answer quality with human review. If you find an error, report it within the app — we'll investigate and fix it if needed.
From 1 July 2026 my 2.5-tonne van will also require a tachograph. Does TachoAI help?
Yes — this is a big change for international van operators above 2.5 t. TachoAI covers both the latest Mobility Package rules (56-day printout rule, G2V2 Smart tachograph retrofit) and the new 2.5 t obligations. If you are just starting to use a tachograph, TachoAI guides you through the new system.
Can I cancel the subscription at any time?
Yes — a monthly subscription can be cancelled at any time in the Google Play / Apple Store subscription management interface. Cancellation takes effect at the next billing reset. There is no cancellation fee, no “mini-contract”, no mandatory term. Your account and data remain untouched.
I also drive abroad (UK, Norway, Turkey, the Balkans). Does TachoAI know these rules?
Yes — TachoAI handles all three main legal systems: EU 561/2006 (EU), AETR (Switzerland, Norway, Iceland, Turkey, the Balkans, non-EU Eastern Europe, the Caucasus, Central Asia) and TCA (United Kingdom, post-Brexit). On a DE → UK → DE route all three may apply — TachoAI automatically applies the correct one.
Do I need to buy a separate card reader device?
For a G2V2 Smart tachograph, NO — TachoAI communicates directly with the tachograph over Bluetooth, even while driving. For older tachographs there is the TachoMI / AETRControl Front Device adapter (through the front panel, while driving, < 50 s). Or any USB-C smart card reader with an Android phone. All three modes support the same AI analysis.
