Troubleshooting

Quick checklist for download errors

If a download fails, try in this order: retryget closer + stay putignition off/onmake sure the same card(s) are in the tachograph as at pairing → (rarely) remove the pairing on both sides and pair again.

Tachograph not responding

This often happens after a previous, interrupted download (for example, you walked away from the vehicle, or the connection broke). In such cases the tachograph can "get stuck", and the next download will not start or returns an error.

Try in this order:

  1. Restart the download — often it sorts itself out.
  2. Turn off the ignition, then turn it back on and try again. In most cases this is enough — you don't need to touch the tachograph fuse.
  3. Check that the same card(s) are in the tachograph as at pairing time, in the same slot.
  4. Only if nothing else helps: pull the tachograph fuse for about 30 seconds (rare, last resort).

Possible causes and solutions:

  • Driver cards have changed - Check that the same cards are in the tachograph as at the time of pairing. If the cards have changed, remove the pairing on both devices and pair again.
  • The tachograph is frozen - Turn off the ignition and wait at least 2 minutes. Then restart the vehicle. The tachograph will recover after restarting.
  • Bluetooth is not turned on - Check that Bluetooth is enabled on both the tachograph and the phone.

The download starts but breaks mid-way

Symptom: the download starts, runs for a while, then stops with an "incomplete download" error (no data is saved).

Cause: the Bluetooth connection broke during the download (walking away or interference).

Solution:

  • Stay close to the tachograph for the ENTIRE download. The download can take 1–3 minutes — don't walk away, don't pocket the phone, and don't start another app.
  • Try again (often it goes through on the second try).
  • If it happens again: ignition off/on, then retry.

Connection timeout

Solution:

  • Try connecting again
  • Make sure the phone is close to the tachograph (within Bluetooth range)
  • Close and reopen the application
  • Turn the phone's Bluetooth off and back on

Upload failed

Solution:

  • Check the internet connection (WiFi or mobile data)
  • The application will automatically retry the upload once an internet connection is available
  • There is no need to upload manually again - the data is safely stored on the phone

Tip

The data is safely stored on the phone until it is uploaded. As soon as the internet connection is restored, the application will upload them automatically.

Card already uploaded this month

Explanation:

Depending on the subscription type, you can upload one driver card per month — but that same card as many times as you like. The limit is on the number of different cards, not on the number of uploads. If you have already uploaded one card this month and then try to upload a different card (with a different card number), that card can only be uploaded next month.

Important

The same card can be re-uploaded at any time during the month — this never causes an error. Only a different card (with a different card number) triggers this message; to switch cards, wait until next month.

Bluetooth pairing failed

Step-by-step solution:

  1. Remove the pairing on the phone: Settings → Bluetooth → Find the device → "Forget device"
  2. Remove the pairing on the tachograph/front device: Go to Bluetooth settings and remove the phone from the paired devices list
  3. Restart Bluetooth: Turn the phone's Bluetooth off, then back on
  4. Try pairing again: Follow the pairing guide steps from the beginning

Bluetooth download does not start

Symptom:

After initiating the Bluetooth (BLE) card download, you receive an error message and the download does not start. It fails even after multiple attempts.

Explanation:

Due to the nature of Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE), it may happen that the connection is not established on the first attempt. This occurs especially when the Bluetooth module of the tachograph or the phone is busy, or a previous connection was not fully closed. This is normal behaviour — it does not indicate a hardware fault.

Solution:

  • Try again — the app reconnects automatically, usually succeeding within 2-3 attempts
  • If multiple attempts fail: close the app completely (swipe it away from the recent apps list) and reopen it
  • Keep the phone within 1-2 metres of the tachograph
  • Make sure no other Bluetooth device (e.g. headphones, hands-free kit) is interfering with the connection

Did you know?

The BLE download works even while driving — you do not need to stop or remove the card. The download does not disturb the tachograph or the driver.

General troubleshooting tips

Useful tips

  • - Keep the TachoAI application up to date
  • - Make sure the phone's operating system is also up to date
  • - Keep the phone close to the tachograph during the Bluetooth connection
  • - If nothing helps, uninstall and reinstall the application
